There was a time when wrong would have been correct when referring to a word that was obscene. There was a time when the only wrong words were words considered obscene.
Okay, okay, by whose standards? I can hear the outbursts now. Well, how about this for an answer: by my standards.
My standards are the ones I follow. Is that okay? I still have the right to say and think whatever I damn well please. During World War Two, the only words that were wrong were words that described sexual acts, sexual organs, urine, manure and some other common combinations of verbs and nouns. The word damn was borderline. Much was made about the word damn in Gone With The Wind, "frankly my dear, I don't give a...darn...no...damn."
